Operating System

Gentoo Linux powers all my server and my workstations. It's major pro is that it is more a meta-distribution than a complete distribution : it makes it easy to build a Linux system from sources. I prefer it for various (uncommon) reasons :

  • Future Technologies, it's the best distribution to manage 64bit, note that it was also the first. Provides bleeding-edge software in general
  • Security, the Hardened project, Security advisories.
  • Documentation is really complete and precise.
  • Portage, the software package manager allows an unmatched compromise between liberty and simplicity, see Gentoo binhost with hardened+SELinux patches.
  • Ebuilds are simply text-file with some pre-cooked python code and python classes.
  • The community is really sympatic and this distribution allows learning of GNU/Linux basics really well.

  • Window Manager : GNU/Screen and dwm. I tryed all WM avalaible in Debian Linux unstable repositories in 2004-2005.

Motivations et Objectives

  1. Making your business to succeed with modern technologies and optimized interfaces.
  2. The world is full of fascinating problems waiting to be solved : I get a thrill from solving problems, sharpening my skills, and outpassing my limits;
  3. I want to take all programming challenges, no matter the time that it is going to take if i don't have the skills : that is even what interrests me the most;
  4. Inegalities in the world are the result of the capitalist system. In the hacker's micro-society, these inegalities do not have a place : open-source and knowledge sharing spirit rule. It is within this great family that I want to live my work;
  5. Knowledge is usefull only when sharing it, working with it and once again : when sharpening it.

Actual Situation

  • I am tenant of my appartements;
  • My son Aaron Linus Pic is born on the 7th February 2007 at 21H56 in Angouleme (France);
  • My friends made my hudge custom desktop for me.
  • My workstation is mobile, I am used of working on the road.
  • I will accept any proposition outside France.
  • Azerty/Qwerty hurts my hands too much, therefore i can't use it.
  • We are moving to a custom truck in April and will spend the summer in Tariffa (Spain). It is possible to visit your business in Europe.

Diverse

Practiced Sports : hitchiking, sailing, snowboard, and various extreme sports.

Entertainement : concerts et theater, application of XP/OS on cooking, helping newcommers.
